FAQs

Do I need a referral?

Answer: No! Kansas is a direct access state for occupational therapy services, meaning you can begin services without a provider’s order. If the plan of care extends beyond 30 days or 10 visits (whichever comes first) then a referral will be requested.

What to wear to a visit?

Answer: Dress comfortable! If you are coming for lymphedema treatment, lymphatic massage or neuro-lymphatic massage we will ask you to bring shorts.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Answer: Cash, check, debit, credit, HSA (health savings account) and FSA (flexible spending account).

Can I bring my child with me?

Answer: YES! Children are absolutely welcome. Empower Health wants to ensure parents can receive the care they need and childcare shouldn’t prevent that!

How soon after having a baby can I start therapy?

Answer: therapy can start as soon as 2 weeks postpartum however this will not include any internal work until 6 weeks postpartum or until your provider clears you.

How do I submit a claim to my insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement?

Answer: you may be eligible for reimbursement for services through your out-of-network benefits. Call your insurance company and ask to speak with a representative regarding out-of-network benefits for occupational therapy (called rehabilitation benefits). Ask if your insurance company requires a specific form to submit for reimbursement. Empower Health will provide you with a superbill that contains all the information your insurance company would need for therapy services information. This does not pertain to you if you are a Medicare beneficiary.

*Empower Health will not communicate with insurance providers. Seeking reimbursement is the sole responsibility of the consumer.
